Random life: my riding hat

So, a few weeks back, my family went to an amusement park (King's Dominion in Virginia, if you must know). And I had gotten on a roller coaster.

Usually, I'm really good about making sure that anything easily ejectable is placed in a bag in the waiting area. Glasses, loose/spare change, keys, sandals, even when they can be strapped down in zipper pockets. Even my hat (which anyone who know me knows I can be attached to the point of forgetting its on my head) usually gets the bag (pun intended)

However, for whatever reason (I like to attribute it to the fact that for the first time, thanks to contact lenses, my vision was not impaired on a roller coaster due to having to remove my glasses) , I strapped myself in without removing my hat (I would also like to attribute it to the fact that my hat is apparently a part of my head to anyone, aside from my parents, who knows me). Naturally, I was prepared for the worst.

Fortunately, I didn't lose the hat. Call it a twist of fate, or maybe the hat was kept wedged on by all the hair I was supposed to cut off the week prior. I dunno. I'm just glad I didn't have to buy another one.

That being said, I'm not trusting a fluke! Every time after, I put the hat in the bag just to be safe. After all, I spent $40 on that hat, and I'm not gonna risk decapitation-by-roller-coaster to get it back!
